Southworth Associates Intervention Services firmly believe that Twelve Step recovery programs are an important recovery tool. The overwhelming majority of our recommended treatment providers and all of our monitoring programs are 12 Step based. The following links are for the major 12 Step recovery support groups dealing with substance abuse. If you are looking for assistance for yourself, or on behalf of a friend or family member, we suggest you look into attending one of these groups.
Alcoholics Anonymous is a self-supporting association of men and women who want to stop drinking and to help others reach the same goal. Members attend regular meetings where they share their experiences with alcoholism and recovery while using the 12 step program.
Alcoholism is a disease that affects family and friends as well as the alcoholic. Al-Anon offers help to families and friends of alcoholics through the same principles as A.A.
Alateen helps young people affected by someone else’s drinking. Sponsored by Al-Anon members, Alateen teaches young people—usually teenagers—how to cope with a friend or family member’s alcoholism.
Drawn from the same principles as Alcoholics Anonymous, NA provides a place for addicts to help one another stop using drugs. Members are encouraged to abstain from all drugs including alcohol and work the 12 step recovery program.
MA provides hope and support for marijuana addicts. Through a twelve step program modeled after AA, MA seeks to help those dealing with a marijuana addiction—an illness that often leads to addictions to other drugs.
Southworth Associates is a proud member of both the Association of Intervention Specialists (AIS) and the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP).
